    TPG XL Unlimited Data Plan

TLDR: Unlimited data (2GB/day at 4G speeds) at $0 should be unbeatable. But TPG somehow manages to beat themself with a buggy app, and no data underground. Recommended while it's free. 3/5 [Network] 4/5 When it works, it works. But famously TPG doesn't give underground coverage in Singapore so unfortunately it was incredibly useless for me since I travel to and from work via Northeast line which is completely underground. But above-ground I've never had a problem with the speed or coverage. I've tried the roaming in Indonesia (Batam) and Malaysia (JB). Both times it was serviceable and I could keep in contact over WhatsApp (voice call and messages) and Telegram, and even check out Reddit on occasion. But speeds fluctuate - although I think that's a problem with their local telcos than with TPG. [Ease of porting] 3/5 You can't actually port over currently if you want the unlimited data promo. I had to apply for a new number. The experience applying was alright, but it was troublesome that I had to go down to collect the SIM card in person, especially when all their competitors ship the SIM card to your doorstep now. [Mobile App] 1/5 The mobile app is... barely an app to be honest. It was last updated on Sept 2015, and I honestly couldn't even use it 'cos it was so buggy. In any case, it's unlimited data at $0 a month so you technically never ever need to check it. I gave up within 15 minutes because I was only trying it out for curiousity. [Billing] 100/5 It literally can't get better than free unlimited data for a year, unless another telco starts paying you to use their data. Conclusion: 3/5 I foresee an exodus of TPG clients the moment the 12-month/24-month free period runs out (especially if underground data still doesn't work then). I wouldn't use TPG as your main line. Instead, consider getting it if you have a dual-SIM phone that you can use to leverage on the free data. Otherwise ... I just wouldn't bother.
  • Am using the free data sim card from TPG. The network is pretty stable when you're above ground, but there is absolutely zero connection when you're in the tunnel (MCE) or on the underground train lines. Customer service is standard, and you need to have LTE in order to use the voice calls. Not sure if there's a mobile app tied to it?

    TPG XL Unlimited Data Plan

Free unlimited data, what more can one ask for, except of course, the data doesn't work underground like the most of North-east line in MRT, and also other stations that are underground as well. Other than that, the Internet speed is actually very very fast. I have once hit over my threshold of 2GB per day, and the speed got throttled, but I can still use the throttled speed to load websites on Hotspot using my laptop, shooketh! Call is also not supported for most phone except for those with VoLTE, but with the new TPG 4G Voice app, you can now make calls anywhere with any phone, except, you gotta be connected to the Internet (basically, it's Skype). Internet roaming is free too in India, Indonesia, and Malaysia. I've only tried the roaming in Malaysia (from JB to KL & Ipoh), not a very pleasant experience. The Internet speed is really slow and in most places, it doesn't have signal. It is sufficient if you want to watch 240p on YouTube with slow loading, use WhatsApp, and other basic online function. Some website will take forever to load when you're using the free roaming. All in all, if you are not that fussy, it is practically the best plan for now, and you can even use it as your primary number too, legit. But if you decide to use it as your primary number, beware that the SMS function for you to receive your OTP from banks for example, won't work overseas (roaming is there, yes, but only for your data tapping on local network, not your TPG network). The fact that it is free, all the cons are in retrospect, not so much of an issue. I really hope to see them fixing all these cons before they start charging though, and also hopefully the monthly fees by then would be competitive given that there are now even more low fees, huge data provider in the market, like Gomo.
