    M1 Sim-Only Plan

I have been on Singtel, Starhub mobile plans for the past decade and finally made the switch to try M1 in Dec 2019 when they were having the SIM only promo. After doing my sums, it was clear that the M1 SIM only plan was the best deal for me. At just 30GB of data for $20/month, I was paying more than 50% less each month for a much better plan. With Singtel and Starhub, I frequently had to constantly monitor my data usage. I only had a measly 5GB and ended up paying $45 on average for my mobile phone bills as I kept exceeding the data although the price plan was $30 per month. As a comparison, I would have had to pay a total of $1813 for a phone with plan ($733 handset + $45/mth for two years) if I had continued on with my corporate plan. With M1, the same handset was $979 without plan + $20/mth for the same period which gives me savings of more than $350! Application was seamless and conveniently done through the M1 shop online, although porting was a little tricky as I had ported from a Starhub corporate account but thankfully the M1 customer service officer made it a breeze.

    M1 Sim-Only Plan

Their network coverage needs improvement. I stay in Serangoon area, and when listening to radio while connected to cellular data, the streaming gets cut off frequently. Also, I work in the Marina Bay area and sometimes my line gets connected to Indonesian telco, which is really disappointing. Their IOS app is very buggy and could not load properly most of the times on my iPhone XR.

    M1 Sim-Only Plan

M1 has been quite stable in terms of network connectivity, I don't recall having any issues ever since I signed up for this issue about 2-3 years back. But you have to be careful about the VAS (Value-Added Services). Some VAS are offered free for you at first, but when your contract ends and you don't unsubscribe the VAS, they will just charge you without notice, which I don't like.
  • I've been using M1 for almost 2 decades. Their plan is considered affordable but the most important thing is, whenever iPhone launches together with their plan, M1 usually have the cheapest phone price as compared with other service providers. Their network is unstable in MRT tunnels, other than that everything is fine (they rarely have any major network down). You can use Sunperks points accumulated to offset your bills or request for add-on services. The only thing I don't like is their home broadband wifi could sometimes be unstable.

    M1 Sim-Only Plan

[Ease of porting] Porting process was easy except that the porting date given was pretty long. It was 1 week later, probably due to Covid19 CB situation. [Billing] Value for money among the 3 main telcos. I ported over 4 lines from Singtel Combo plans. Despite having special rates in Singtel, I still save lots of $. They have promotions at $20 at times so do watch out for it and action. Please help to click "Helpful" if you find my review helpful 😀
