    Grid SIM Only Mobile Plan

[Network] I ordered a sim from Grid Mobile and it was delivered promptly. My sim card, however, was not activated (after waiting for 2 hours) even though Grid claims that it will be activated within 2 hours. [Ease of porting] I contacted customer service and they advised me that my mobile service will only be activated upon port-in, which takes 1-5 working days (you are expected to wait without any mobile service) according to them. Customer service has confirmed with me that Grid does not assign a temporary number (unlike the other providers in Singapore). You will not be able to use the service on a temporary number while waiting for your number to be ported in. I believe that they are the only mobile service provider in Singapore that handles number porting in this manner. I am deeply dissatisfied with my experience so far and will not recommend porting your number over to Grid.

[Network] 4/5 Network wise it was quite okay since it's using Singtel infrastructure. Only lose signal at some MRT station. [Customer Service] 2.5/5 Every thing was done through online. Website UI can be better. [Ease of porting] 3/5 Porting was easy. But notification on when the porting is done. Have to wait a day to get port in. [Mobile App] 1/5 No mobile app. Mobile website UI can be better

Network: So far so good, seems similar to the main Singtel line that I ported over from. Only complains so far is these few areas that probably need more work. But since its from Singtel, I doubt they can do anything about it. Areas to be improved: Sembawang Station (will drop to 3G), Canberra Station (4G but drop to 1 bar and can’t load anything), Khatib to Yio Chu Kang (This area seems to always have issue with network especially from the Yishun Gym onwards till NCS building), Bishan (on and off network even though 4G), Circle line between Buona Vista and Mary mount (4G but almost no network). Note: There’s no mentioning if they will be supporting 5G. There’s no mentioning if they are supporting multiple SIM card There’s no mentioning if they going to support eSIM in the future. Customer Support: No Comments, didn’t engage them yet. However recently there are network outage for 2 days straight near noon time. No one knows what happened until we check the Facebook page. They could have done better by sending SMS to users to inform them of the network disruption rather than waiting for users to go to their FB page to complain and the unlucky customer service personnel have to handle unhappy customers when all these could have been prevented. (Note: Their follow up action is to waive off half the month’s bill for the users. ) Ease of porting: Ported to GRID from Singtel, but SIM card only activate one day after the stipulated date of activation. Not much of a issue for me since it is only 1 day. But GRID could have hold onto their promise of activation within the stipulated timeline. APP Tracking: No app for us to use at all (for now). Essentially those who sign up with GRID since the early time until 1 FEB are blind on their data/SMS/call time usage until they finally implement this tracking function in their web portal.

The grid mobile is not actually contract based plans like Singtel. It is more flexible in which you pay about $24.90/month for 40 GB of data (thats really a lot more than what Singtel offers), 200mins outgoing calls and 200 SMS. If you are planning to change your mobile server, tomorrow is the last day of the offer where you can get 1 month of free subscription with no registration fees! Something interesting about grid mobile plan is that they got the gridRewards where you can earn points when you refer friends and stick with them. These points can give you rebates and cashbacks in your bills (it will automatically offset in your next month's bill) or your points can be spent at listed partner merchants (e.g. grab, chope, adidas). Grid mobile can be something to consider because if you are looking at data being your main priority in choosing a mobile plans, this plan offers a good amount of data each month.
