  • [Background: Trying out product due to question posted previously and meeting with Wirex @ Fintech Festival ] Trying out the onboard - Wirex do take KYC seriously (more research shows that while this firm in SG only less than 2 years; they been in UK for 5 years and FCA regulated) which is another good sign. Took a few couple of tries but ultimately worked out after not too long. Poking around the system - it still looks very much a crypto currency offering with the travel card "bolted on" - the travel card is pretty on par with what is in the market these days (free fx changes; no other ongoing fees/charges). Unfortunately, on launch (Nov 11) their app had some teething issues - when trying to topup money; their process works for their core currencies (GBP/EUR/USD) but when trying SGD topup - it gets stuck and cannot progress. Tried on both the app and the website portal. Core currencies work, SGD doesn't. Since cannot fund account then can't actually use! Update Nov 19 - got notification that SGD topups now work; and tested successfully! Note the charge by Wirex is considered a non-SG merchant so even though topup is in SGD it is subject to a 1% fee!!! Hurts a lot of the use of the card for travellers. Update Nov 21 - got card; very good 2 day TAT from topup. Card works flawless physical and online. leaving info about historical experience for reference. Also consider this, reached to help desk to address this problem. Only 24 hours later have a response (and it turned out to be a very quick cursory examination of account before providing canned response and closing support ticket.). 3 days later, support finally confirm - SGD topup not ready yet. Only core currency available (but yet it appears in the user interface). Pretty poor performance in my view for a firm which would be keeping your money. Seems like a rush to launch the product (in time for the conference starting Nov 11?!?) before it is really been ready/tested...

Just an update. Received the Wirex card within 1-2 working days from the time I request for the card from the app. I like the fact you can set in order of priority which account balance should be debited in the event that the balance in the primary account(e.g SGD) has insufficient funds to fulfill the transaction.

That's cool - nice TAT there; I gave the CS folks a poke, they acknowledge SGD topups not ready yet - targeted for this week to have capability go live - will try out card more after that.
  • Didn't go through an entirely smooth process during onboarding. The UIUX wasn't exactly very friendly as well but fair enough, it serves its purpose as a multi-currency card which not only includes major currencies but cryptocurrencies too. Shall not go very much into detail but just sum everything up in point form below. Pros: -Ability to withdraw from local ATM in Singapore without fees!(all other multi-currency cards do not support this with the exception of MCO which imposes a withdrawal fee) -Ability to sort accounts by priority(e.g USD, SGD, AUD, etc) to spend from so that in the event the primary account has insufficient balance to fulfil the transaction, it will spill over the next account and so on until transaction amount is filled. - supports various major cryptocurrencies(BTC,LTC,XLM,Dai,etc) -Up to 1.5% Cryptoback(cashback in the form of BTC) -Can be used as a cryptocurrency exchange platform(rates are not the best though) Cons: -FX rates could be better -No budgeting and detailed transaction history page -Does not support fiat withdrawals
