I would give it a zero star if there was one. The customer service was horrible and the advertising was misleading, intentionally leaving out the monthly service fees from the published rate only to hide it in the fine prints. Why is there a need to hide this if the company is transparent. I also dare not leave my one-month deposit with them (remember the shared bicycles?). They will charge you $100 when you realize about the service fees and want to cancel even on the same day. It is unfair to the elderly and less privileged. I really hope the authorities will step-in because we don't need such companies preying and lurking among us in a market that is supposed to be transparent and fair competition.

  • Hidden cost? Service fee: $4.95 per month (Exc. GST); $5.297 per month (Inc. GST) Only notice this after comparing a few. Did not think that it will hide it cost like this unlike other electrical provider.

I got a reply from them "Thank you for your question. There is no hidden cost. iSwitch has a monthly service fee, applicable to some plans. The monthly service fee is stated in the plan description and factsheet for all plans where applicable. Please be sure to check the relevant details before signing up."

Extremely horrible experience with the sales staff. When the consumer didn't furnished the staff with the Utility account number even the Sms reminder is sent to consumer. That's mean the consumer is still considering, he/she may not wish to sign up with them. However a confirmation of sign-up is received via SMS and threatening consumer that termination fee will be enforced if he/she cancel the sign-up. This is a most Forceful/Evil selling technique/attitude that I ever encountered for my 59 years on earth.

Totally unethical, i signed up at first thinking it was the cheapest and decided for a 2 years contract! However found out that there is a monthly service fee of $5. And if i would to terminate now it would cost me $100.

At first I thought it was the cheapest rate. Yet there's a monthly fee that was hidden in the fact sheet page 2 section C last line: "Service fee: $4.95 per month (Exc. GST); $5.297 per month (Inc. GST)" Add up this fee will make it cost more than all other brand. Most people don't know because it's not obvious in their website and they purposely hide it in fact sheet one small section only. So don't ever get from this company. They are not transparent about the true cost. So which one is best or most transparent of their price ? I haven't even started to use ISwitch and already have a bad impression of them. One of the sales reps at the booth signed us up saying we would take advantage of a 30% promotion. We get a call from customer service a few weeks later saying your region does not have coverage and even if it does by May , we can't provide the promotion by then. This company doesn't even know where its coverage is, misled us, and then actually has the nerve to not even give us the promotion. This is very typical of Singapore's poor customer service. If they cared about their customer, they would apologise for their mistake and offer the promotion when it comes to our region.

when i was about to apply,, i talk in their 2 different agents to make sure the early termination due to relocation in or out of singapore,,. both of them showed me a contract from their Tablets,, that i can do early termination due to relocation without penalty as long i need to show some documents.. but when i received the contract,, they OPT that clause.. and now,, even transferring the account to the new owner of the premisses,, they said Early Termination Costs may apply depending on your contract.

There's a monthly service fee $5.30 (incl of GST) hidden in the fact sheets!!! Most of their plan has it: https://iswitch.com.sg/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/3.-iSwitch-Fact-SheetChope-the-Rate24-MonthsNon-StandardWebsite140119.pdf ! So this will makes iSwitch no longer the cheapest... In fact, adding it with their lowest rates makes it not worth it anymore ...

Imagine they are our different telco. M1, Starhub, Singtel etc. Or our Banks (DBS, UOB, OCBC, Standchart etc) offering mortgage loan. There are offering the same thing, but just different pricing terms. In short, the plans can be summarised into 2 main type. One is fixed price (imagine fixed interest rate loan), and another is variable (imagine floating rate interest based on sibor). The variable will be usually a discount( x %) off the regulated tarrif (sibor) rate that the rest of singaporeans are paying now. For actual plan comparision, see the official site. https://compare.openelectricitymarket.sg/#/home

FAQS

How to switch to iSwitch?

One must first check their eligibility to switch, followed by price plan selection, then proceed with online sign-up. There are no registration fees required.

Will my electricity be disrupted when I do decide to switch?

No, you will not experience disruption as you would be switching retailers, not supply.

Is there a service charge?

Yes, a monthly charge of $4.95 (before GST) will be charged for maintenance of the IT systems and infrastructure. This charge is kept separately from the electricity rate for your monthly consumption, to ensure that your electricity rate remains competitive. This fee is applicable to Non-Standard plans.

How long does it take to process my application?

Within 10 days for residential consumers to transfer your electricity account from SP (non-market) to iSwitch (market).

Does iSwitch require a deposit?

HDB 1-3 room ($30)

HDB 4-5 room ($60)

Condo to landed property ($90)

The initial deposit will be charged to your first invoice. A subsequent adjustment may be required using customer’s actual average electricity consumption within the first 3 months to equate to one month bill.

Effectively your security deposit will equate to 1 month’s electricity bill.

Your security deposit with SP Group cannot be transferred.

How will I be billed?

You will receive a separate e-bill from iSwitch for your home electricity.

You can download your bill at your convenience as you sign into the iSwitch Customer Portal.

No hardcopy bill will be provided by iSwitch

Do I have to change my meter if I switch to iSwitch?

No. But if you do decide to switch from an analogue to an AMI meter, there will be a one-time installation fee of $40 per AMI meter (exclusive of GST).
