One of the worst insurance policies you can have. They were a partner with Klook, making it very easy to purchase travel insurance policies. Confirmation email was sent out immediately. However, that is all that is good about MSIG travel insurance. [Claims Process] I have 3 ongoing claims from June 2023. it took me a month just to get a response from the policyholder. I had to call in just to get an answer if my cases were under review. how ridiculous is it that it's been 3 months and I have only recently gotten an answer. [Hidden terms] Worst thing is that the claims for all 3 of my claims were rejected. I faced delayed flights, resulting in personal cost as I had to book additional flights and accommodations. but the policies of MSIG do not cover flight delays. how ridiculous is that to have an insurance policy that doesn't cover something so basic as that... who knows what other hidden terms they have to avoid giving people their claims. Purchasing insurance is supposed to give you peace of mind while you are overseas, not giving a headache just to make claims after being back in Singapore. My friends that were with me used Fairprice Income and had their claims paid in full within 2 weeks of being back in Singapore. If anyone reads this, do not purchase MSIG Travel Insurance (or any other insurance policies, who knows what other hidden terms there are)

      Hi Zennie,

      Yes, that is correct.

For travellers looking to cover their pre-existing medical conditions*, we also have our TravelEasy Pre-Ex plans.

[Claims Process] I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND PURCHASING FROM MSIG. One of my colleague fell ill on the day we are traveling back from Bali to SG on 14 March 2023. As it was only few hours before our flight, we were unable to travel to the nearest clinic due to time constraints. We also did not want to risk missing our flight, given that it was only 3-4 hours before. And travelling to the clinics would take up another 1 hour of travelling time. My colleague was wheeled to the healthcare in Bali’s Airport, and received a Medical cert memo indicating that she is unwell, and require special service ( to be wheeled to the aircraft). This should be sufficient proof that she is indeed unwell from overseas. 1 day after we arrived in Singapore, her symptoms worsen and was brought to the hospital for further medical treatment. The MSIG officer acknowledged and requested her for further documents on 20th April 2023. And up till 2nd August 2023 ( which we had to constantly push for follow ups) , the same officer informed that the claims was rejected. Despite explaining our situation that the timing clashes with our flight. What’s worse, they took 6 long months just to inform that the claims was rejected. If in this case whereby MSIG cannot consider our appeal, what is the point of us purchasing the Insurance from them. Extremely ridiculous and will never buy from them again.

[Claims Process] The process is SUPER LONG (take months) as they outsourced the claim to claim assessment agent. 1) it is just a medical claim with all receipts and Doc letter submitted took about two months. 2) For my travel disruption cancellation by airline,it took 2 and a half months. unfortunately, I didn't get my claim, I already submitted the cancellation email from airline and the airline didn't mention the reason for cancellation , it must be due to the operation problem. I called airline office ,The airline office replied they only notified the passenger with cancellation email, they don't provide reason. MSIG disapproved my claim no matter how I explained. lousy service that they FIND EVERY MEANS NOT TO APPROVE THE CLAIMS. [Customer Service] The agent that who assessed my claim is new , she all the times just said the policy stated this and that without considering the real situation and context. I talked to her, she just said sorry I can't help,. that's all. I asked to talk to higher level, she said only by email. I WAS NO WHERE TO GO LITERALLY AND I JUST GIVE UP NOT TO CLAIM. MSIG Travel service quality has declined so much these two years that disappointed me so much! If you want a worry free travel, please don't go to them

Bought an annual Elite plan for Asia Pacific. As some reviewers already shared... Purchasing is a breeze and your credit card is charged instantly. But claims processing is unbearably slow.. was told to wait 6 to 8 weeks for processing due to high volume.. So, I still do not know if my medical claims will be reimbursed. Regretted getting MSIG Travel insurance. Vastly different from other travel insurance plans (even budget ones) which I've experienced in terms of claims processing & settlement.

MSIG is the worse travel insurance! Avoid at all risk! Easy to purchase but they offer no coverage at all for your outpatient visit after you return from holiday! Their collaboration with Scootsurance has a lot of misleading clause and when you call MSiG for claim, their customer service will tell you not to buy scootsurance next time!

Regretted. Similar experience as the rest of users with 1 star rating. They take your money within few steps, but took ages to attend any claims. My 4yo son were affected with influenza A, and doctor issued a "no travel" notice prior to our trip. I did called up MSIG before cancelling my trip, to make sure I have all the supporting documents they wanted for the claim. Went thru the hassle of submitting documents via their claim portal. Waited few days, someone from "claim department" follow through via email requesting for the same documents again. After sharing the documents, it is been 2 months and they have yet to reply. Puzzled me on why does it take such long process to return claims, when all supporting documents is in order. Meanwhile, buying their policy takes less than few minutes, and your credit card is charged instantly! 5 stars on ease of buying insurance. 0 stars on post sales service.

This is the worst travel insurance company I’ve come across. Please avoid this company. If I know this review platform earlier, I would have made this review long ago as I was so frustrated but didn’t know where to air my anger. I made a claim in March 2020 after I was forced to shorten my Norway trip because the country announced lockdown due to Covid. They took one whole year to pay me a miserable amount after requesting documents after documents, and in the end told me many items of my claim are not covered. In the first place why they requested for documents after documents if these items are not covered. They wasted so much of my time and effort. They were obviously trying not to honor the claim. They would ask for supporting documents and after providing, they would ask for more documents. They went on like that for months and after one whole year of chasing them, they finally paid me a miserable few hundred bucks for one unused accommodation, and gave me a list of items so called not covered. Until today I still felt angry whenever I told others about this experience.

I bought the premium package as we travelled to Europe with car rental. We had a flat tire and the insurance policy does not cover the service call and tow service as well. Q Rental Vehicle Excess of the Travel policy, we will pay only for the Excess if you are legally responsible for loss or damage to the rental vehicle. In this instance, it was unfortunate that you had a flat tire and had to incur cost for the service call and tow service. These costs are not deemed to be Excess as defined under the policy. Given the circumstances, there is no cover under the policy for the incurred service call and tow charges. We are therefore unable to consider your appeal. UQ Other than that, they took close to 2 months to reveal the outcome. it is way too long to claim. In case you want to have the car rental excess claim, pls go for other insurance company than MSIG.
