I bought ferry tickets in advance between North and South island of NZ. However, when I encountered ferry cancellation due to mechanocal failures and I tried to make a claim, they kept asking the same supporting information again and again going no where. My case is supposed to be a straight forward claim as the case is claimable under section 6 for "misconnection" with condition of "confirm reservation". Eventhough they promised in the email in black and white to get back to me in 10 business days after I sent them the information they requested, more than one month has passed but still heard nothing from them. Worse still, their sales department keep sending me emails and called me to renew my annual travel insurance plan. What a lousy, disappointing and painful experience!!! [Claims Process]

I bought the annual plan, did claim once. But please read T&C again, it seems like if you have the same illness, you might not claim the 2nd time. I did not renew the plan after ended.

We got this travel insurance about 4 - 5 years ago, and we had to use it twice. Once regarding medical, another regarding theft. While the money was eventually claimed, the claims process was not easy to manage, not very well suited for a long overseas duration. (We're talking over months) If you are buying it for a short holiday, it's still good, but don't expect miracles if you need a longer term solution. 1. Attempts to email and get a resolution quickly did not succeed, and we had to call, racking up a lot of phone bills in the process. 2. Considering the challenges of translation amongst others, we did not expect the insurer to provide additional services, but we do expect them to keep the case on tabs and follow up promptly. The fact that we needed to email them back and forth and that there was not much communication otherwise did not ease things. 3. Only thing good about it was that the insurance was easy to purchase. The rating was made considering that we spent a lot on this plan. While NTUC did good for most insurances, this one unfortunately disappointed considering different factors. We might consider getting it again for a shorter holiday, but we will be more discerning if there is a longer term commitment.

I would recommend Income Travel Insurance, I went for trip to Korea last winter, and had some skin infection after coming back, seek for General Practitioner to help with my condition and submitted my claim after that. Though it takes a month to be reviewed and approved, at least I didn't face any difficulties on submitting the claim. Overall, it was better than other company I have bought before.

I wonder if we can go to dermatologist though and get the claim approved.

I have made NTUC annual travel insurance claim on 14 jan on behalf of my child. I own the policy as my child is a minor. There was no update on outcome of claims until I send a chaser email on 6 March. I receive a reply on 8 March claiming that an email for settlement has been send on 25 Feb(not my email) and amount has been credited to my account within a week from the date of that letter. I replied on 9 May and state that the bank account number that NTUC income has debited into is not my account number. It is also not my child’s account. I have checked my claim form and it is indeed not the bank account number that I have written in that claim form. I have also followed up with a call to customer service. I have requested for someone to call me. Till this day, I have receive no email, no call from ntuc income travel insurance. Absolutely nothing. The amount is not big. It is only $40. And NTUC income is taking such a long time to process a simple claim and even then, money goes to wrong account, and no reply to customer considering customer had send an email and followed up with a call. This is my second claim with NTUC travel insurance. My child had a luggage delay in Dec and it is a straight forward case. However it took such a long time for NTUC income insurance to process the claim. I had made another travel insurance claim with another company and I have to say, the processing was efficient and satisfactory. I hope NTUC income can have someone contact me and give me an explanation on outcome of this missing claim.

Be warned that under the "Trip Disruption" section, NTUC Income travel insurance does NOT reimburse accommodations, airfare and tours that you have already paid and these costs are not refundable. My family and I could not travel from Seoul to Jeju in Sept. 2022 due to the super typhoon. The costs of our flights to and from Jeju, car rental and accommodations were rejected! This is ridiculous as it defeats the purpose of buying travel insurance! We chose to stay on in Seoul as our Jeju trip was only 3days and it did not make sense to go there after the typhoon blew over.

Purchase Process is really easy. Just got to the website and all the options are there. Select what you need and just pay. All the documents will be sent to the email given. I was unfortunate to have to go to the emergency services on my trip. When I got home, I just submitted the bill and the diagnosis and within 2 weeks I was reimbursed without any fuss. Very easy!

NTUC used to be fast to apply and now their customer services and process is not what it used to be.

I submitted my travel claim recently and it took more than a week for them to let me know that they needed more documents. I mean, there's a chance I won't be able to secure such documents after so long! it's frustrating. also there's no name or number to the email and so to contact them I will have to go through a troublesome experience of writing in to some generic email. sigh
