Methodology

OCBS conducts a comprehensive analysis of all ETFs listed in the US, followed by screening for suitable ETFs using various qualitative and quantitative criteria (assets under management, expense ratio, historical performance, liquidity, underlying instruments etc). The percentage allocation to each ETF is determined using OCBC's proprietary optimization algorithm and ETF-based portfolios are rebalanced semi-annually.

User Experience: The web based interface is relatively ok to use. Not too complicated. But could be better if they have a app (for iOS or android similar to Stashaway) to access the system. Not too sure why they decided to have a separate login page instead of signing in using the main OCBC personal account page. If they can merge it together under one login for OCBC user to have a overall view of all the assets they have (Similar to how they show the BCIP assets and other investment assets) it would be better. Ease of Set up: No fuss for OCBC user. Quite straight forward. Customer support: Haven’t contacted them as of now. No comments for this portion.

[User Experience] The UX of the OCBC Roboinvest website is very intuitive which makes the whole process of signing up for an investment plan with them that much easier. Upon signing up and filling up some details about your investment risk profile, you will be given 3-5 investment portfolios to choose from. I like how the basic stats of each portfolio is laid out such as the risk level, the mean return, the volatility. The side-by-side comparison made it easier for me to make a more informed decision. [Customer Support] I did however send in a query via email with regards to one particular portfolio. Customer support took around 4 days to get back to me, and with a reply that didn't answer my question. I went down to the OCBC branch in my neighbourhood and it was only then that I managed to get my answer.

[User Experience] Can be accessed only on website. Wish they have a mobile application to manage portfolios on the goo. [Customer Support] Customer support is only via. e-mail. Usually takes 2/3 days for the response. [Returns Rate] Overall returns were good so far. Its about ~10%. Hoping it will maintain. [Investment Method] Minimum investment is around $2000+, which is a lot and very difficult for investors to decide when to invest. Good to monthly investment option to average off the market ups and downs. [Waiting Time] It takes some time to transfer the money and to invest in the portfolio. So, this may be a drawback if the markets go up in these 3 days. Overall its a good investment for long term.

[User Experience] I'm not sure that I am getting the best returns though RoboInvest and would prefer dividends to be re-invested - but apart from that I would recommend this investment option as one part of a larger portfolio

User experience so far has been pleasant and interface is user friendly. Would be good if a mobile app is developed.

Hi there, I read that if you hold REITs that distribute at least 90% of taxable income each year, they will enjoy tax transparency treatment by IRAS (subject to certain conditions). Hence, individual investors who receive these distributions also enjoy tax-exemption treatment. https://www.iras.gov.sg/irashome/uploadedFiles/IRASHome/e-TaxGuides/etaxguideIncome%20Tax%20Treatment%20of%20REIT%20Exchange-Traded%20Funds%20(final)11%20Jul%202019.pdf

I guess the taxes you mention are withholding taxes from the foreign ETFs, which the robo will deduct from your returns automatically so there's nth you need to do. Like what Rais mention, Capital and div gains are not subject to taxes.

Do you feel happy, confident of your investment selections, able to sleep soundly at night? If you’re, then continue doing it. It’s decent. Investment results are good. Investment results achieved by amount of corresponding amount of risk taken needs to be the conversation in this community. The community can’t quantify risk as easily as investment returns thus it naturally leads to an over fixation on purely returns. Risk comes from not knowing what I’m investing. Thank you for taking your time to read.

High fee of 0.88% per annum on total value of your investments held with OCBC RoboInvest. On top of that, there's additional exchange fees and charges applies. That said reits' valuation had run up quite a bit for the past year, so do your due diligence
