      DBS Esso Card

[Useful For...] Utilise this card mainly for petrol. Great % of discount with smiles points. Did not make any other purchase with this card. [Fee Waivers] Wasn't the easiest process to request for a fee waiver given the frequent usage of it. But still got it in the end, so, no complains.

This is a great card for fuel savings when paired with existing discount cards. Good to have as a secondary card for the sole purpose of purchasing fuel.

      DBS Esso Card

Applying for the card online was a breeze provided you have a pre-existing DBS / POSB account. The automated process was painless. The card allows you to get great savings at Esso fuel stations, and more than that, you can rack up Smiles Points even more easily as every $10 charged to the card elsewhere is also converted to Smiles points, resulting in further fuel savings.

If purely used for Esso purchase is highly recommended. But for other purposes, read fine prints. Sign up instalment plans for a purchase but was penalised by its rules. Also no reward points. Take note. Dun take up instalments with credit card if can.

High standard interest per annum. But good discount for esso. Pay in time, its fine. Late payment accur heavy interest and you ended up posting only interest monthly that never clears your bill

      DBS Esso Card

[Useful For...] Very useful for Esso savings. [Fee Waivers] However the drawback is, Fee Waivers is no guarantee. If you forget, you incurred a $100 late payment fee that cannot be waived. Bear in mind that there is no SMS notification and there is no APP notification of due date. There is only an email notification that look so much like their frequently sent ADS email that you can easily miss out. Personally, I find this quite unacceptable. I ended up with $100 late payment fee that does not help with any Esso savings. I was only 2 days late! At the very least in this age and time, to implement a system to have an app or sms to notify us of due date. Personally, I believe DBS intentionally plans to rip profits of late payment fees. I paid everything including the late payment fee and cancelled the card within 4 months. [Customer Service] Customer service is almost non-existent. Their online chat to fee waive comes with generic responses. Unfortunately for me, they are adamant and refused to waive my fee. [Conclusion] I will stay clear of ALL DBS cards with a 10m pole regardless of rewards. 100% guaranteed any DBS users will be paying more simply because late payment fees potentially cannot be waive. It's a sooner or later scenario because there is NO SMS and APP notification of credit card payment due date, get DBS card only if you can remember to pay your card on time to avoid late payment fee. Otherwise stick to Citi Cash Back Card which still gives as much Esso fuel savings as this card.
