At a job now that I've never expected myself to be doing and don't plan on continuing this same line of work after I leave here one day. Have I wasted my time? Should I leave earlier then?

Since I don't think I will have any transferrable skills to any future jobs.

Hi Anon,

Like what the others have mentioned, you've gained something valuable nonetheless and that's experience. As cliche as it may sound, any experience is good experience. So don't think that you've wasted your time in this current workplace because you haven't.

Whether you should leave earlier or not, you'll have to gauge and decide if your time spent there is worth it. But something you'll have to keep in mind is that the current climate is, unfortunately, less favourable to job seekers and this is something to prepare yourself for when trying to find a new job now. You can look around in the meantime and if something fitting comes up, you can then reconsider again. All the best.

If this is just an interim job, yes you're wasting your time. When you are looking for your next job, hiring managers can question you on your choice of interest based on your last job so be very careful in what job you are staying for.

for example, hriing manager will not look at a CV of a technician who tries to apply for an accountant role.
