Credit Cards

I recently signed up for Citibank Premiermiles Card for the $300 sign up bonus. I realise it is similar to DBS Altitude which I have. Should I cancel the card or split my expenses?

Should I focus on one card since they're both general spend cards and maybe apply for a new specialised card? or is it worth keeping both due to their versatility?

That is a good question indeed. I suggest that you keep both cards since miles earned on your Citi PM do not expire. That means that you can use your DBS Alt for your general day to day spend and use your Citi PM only when they run special promotions.

Just keep both!

Hi anon,

There's no issue to keep both.

Citi PM has multiple transfer partners, and DBS Altitude has good earn rates on SQ (3mpd, although you might want to use a 4mpd card such as WWMC (which does have a lower cap).

Since miles earned on both cards don't expire, you can quite safely keep both. In fact, I see paying the annual fee as a way to buy miles on both. If you don't want to pay the annual fee, then DBS does have a fee waiver if you spend more then $25K a year.

Still, the best thing you can do is to also get a 4mpd card for specialized spend so that you can get more out of your spending.

If you are need of miles and is not a heavy spender, you can keep both and pay for the annual fee. This is because paying the annual fee can help you earn miles

However if you are a good planner in your expenditure and is brillant in doing these credit card airmiles hack, i will aadvise to keep to only general spending airmiles card and prepare an army of speciliased credit card which earns miles for each specific category of spending

Jus keep both , unless 1 day the one u use lesser do not want to waive the annual fee , only cancel ...
