I found this broadband hack working well and can save quite a bit on broadband costs. This is for light users at home, esp elderly.

This is how it has been working.

I applied this at my mum’s place as she has doesn’t need fast speed since not playing PlayStation.

Instead of getting those senior fiber plan which some telco recommend... And guess what, after 2 years, the bill revert back to original price which is more expensive than current bill. (I’ve been through that)

So here’s how the hack works:

1. Get a router with SIM card slot.
2. Sign up for a senior sim card plan (no contract - around 400GB, only $5)
3. Insert the SIM card into the router and ta-da! You got WiFi at only $5. And the connection is pretty decent, depending on how good is the router.

Even if the signal is weak in other room, can easily use an extension router plug.

Some say this is the same as using phone to tether. Big difference. Turning on the phone for tethering 24/7, gets really hot. So not advisable.

​

For router, I’m being using for years and it serves my purpose. It has been stable, good connection and low maintenance required.

Why pay more for something if you don’t need.
