Best health insurance to get?

I currently have no insurance coverage at all... I'm 22 female, and have family diabetes history.

Which integrated shield plan is the best/has the most value? I only want to cover till Class A ward...

And is there anything else that is important/good to have considering my family diabetes history? And any good agents to recommend? Thank you!

First of all, it's great that you are planning for yourself at a young age! This is a good first step to ask for advise and be open to learning.

I would go for something that allows me to be treated in both private and public hospitals. Integrated Plans (IP) is a plan that upgrades your hospital ward from B2 and C wards in public hospitals to B1 and A Wards and further to private hospitals. For some plans, although it's cheap, you need to see if they pay your hospital bills "As Charged" or up to a limit only. DO check how many days you are covered for pre and post hospitalisation treatment (for example physiotherapy). Some cover up to 100 days, some up to 180 days.

For 22 year old, I would get something that allows me to pay with CPF for as long as I can, so look out for $0 for Cash Outlay. Currently by early 40s, you would have to top up with cash on top of paying with Medisave.

Also, for IP, you don't need to stick to the same insurance firm till old age. You can still change your policy within your 20s or early 30s (if your health is still in good condition), if you see a promotion that offers the same/higher coverage with the lower premium in the future. Attached news article on 15 Aug shows that healthcare evolves over time. Insurance companies might update and release new products, so it's good to have a good financial advisor to help you look out for these updates and recommend a switch if needed.

Here's a very helpful table. If you click on the LINKS at the bottom row in this table, there's a very comprehensive comparison between private insurance providers.
