Claims are distressing with AIG . Beware! Took more than 22 days to process with a denial. My claim was for a ticket because of trip disruption due to historic strike at border and airport on day of departure. (Clause 23a) But their reply ? Claim does not fall under covered reason quoting clause 23b which is on medical hospitalisation and injury. Staff are not proficient. [Claims Process] [Customer Service] [Terms and Conditions]0

TERRIBLE - AVOID. Completely disappointed with their unreasonable terms. Echoing many other reviews here - they do everything they can to prevent you from making a successful claim. We experienced travel disruptions during our trip to France because of the national strikes, but they were consistently unhelpful and had many excuses and argued out their way out of it through unreasonable interpretations of their policy terms. As a frequent and experienced traveller, this is the most unreasonable, hard-to-claim insurance policy I have come across. My travel companions who purchased cheaper insurance policies had no issues making claims for the same issue. Will never ever purchase again and do not recommend them at all - I wish I'd read the reviews before I did.0

[Hidden terms] Very easy to purchase this insurance - very hard to make a claim. We recently bought flights from Singapore to USA though Expedia so that I could see my father who was unwell. We added travel insurance because we knew in these times things can always change on a dime. Our plane tickets were also refundable... allegedly. Within a day after booking our flights my fathers condition worsened and I had to book an emergency flight to leave that evening instead of keeping my original flights which were set for a few days later. We tried to change our booking online through Expedia, but couldn't complete the process online. We tried to call Expedia, but no one answers their lines. So we were forced to buy completely new flights, under the assumption that our previous flights were protected by both Expedia's online terms and AIG insurance. Lucky for me, I got there just in time to see my father before he passed away on the day I landed, had i kept my original flights, I would have landed 5 days later and I would not have made it in time. Then came the painful process of making a claim to refund my flights all while grieving the death of my father. AIG rudely questioned the situation and even after I sent my father's death certificate they demanded a letter from his primary care doctor, as well as his discharge paper from the hospital ( you'd think a death certificate would suffice as discharge papers). After many many hours on the phone, and many emails, they informed me that his condition was preexisting and my flights would not be refunded.... His death was not a pre existing condition, he didn't even die of what he was in the hospital for. Basically, AIG has a lot of loopholes by which they can not pay out your flights. These loopholes include pretty much any thing you can think of. They will always find a reason to not pay out. I will never book anything on Expedia again, and i will NEVER buy AIG insurance again... It's a scam. They just make it so easy to click when you're checking out. But buyer beware.0

I had a confirmed ticket from London to JFK booked on Orbitzcom which also owns Bookingcom and Travelocitycom. When I arrived at LHR the airline said no ticket was present and to call Orbitz. The time it took to reach a live person resulted in my Covid test expiring by 15 minutes. Long story short - I had to pay $1,200 to get home as I had to get a second Covid test, buy a ticket with Portugal TAP Airlines, 2 train tickets, and an Uber to get home. The flight did not even go to JFK which I found after my luggage was taken. The flight went to Portugal then Newark. All of this and AIG Travel covered nothing. I had a confirmed ticket and was simply trying to go home. Orbitz caused the flight interruption and did nothing to resolve it. Yet this travel insurance was worthless.0

Signed up with AIG twice for my family and myself. My mum had leg pain during the travel and was unable to walk. Came back and see doctor. Claiming medical fee from AIG was easy and fast. The second time that I bought AIG was right before COVID-19. Cancellation of insurance policy was fuss free too0

[Purchase Process] Went to Kunming, China. Didn't have any technical issues as we purchased the travel insurance side-offered when we purchased air tickets on SilkAir website. Everything was electronic, from confirmation details of travel insurance together emailed with air tickets to the final official receipts and policy claim details. User interface is simple to understand and navigate through, just standby your passports, credit/debit card and mobile phone for OTP transaction input purposes. Fast, easy and efficient.0

The claim procedure is easy. I was sick when I was overseas. I came back to Singapore and went to see doctor 2 days later. They allowed me to claim although I did not furnish a medical report from the doctor. I just submitted the clinic's receipt to make my claim.0

[Claims Process] I have lost my valuable items including passport in Austria in 2018 due to theft, and have made claim from AIG for the loss. The claim was smooth, quick and good; and eventually gotten the claim pretty easy and quick.0

DON'T USE THEM ... I was totally disappointed with this company. they refused to pay my claim ,hiding behind small unjust conditions in their policy. would not refund anything when the whole world is shut down by the covid 19 virus. Any company can promise great service... but paying, doing the right(just) thing and helping is not important !!! They very slow to respond to any of my emails and had to be chased up everytime to get anything other than automatically generated responses.0

Additional Things to Know About AIG Travel Insurance
- These plans are only eligible for residents of Singapore.
- AIG Travel Guard Direct travel insurance covers travellers of all ages.
- The maximum period of coverage for a Return Single-Trip Plan is 182 consecutive days.
- The maximum period of coverage for a One-Way Single-Trip Plan ends upon your arrival at your first overseas destination (this excludes transit stops).
- The maximum period of coverage for the Annual Multi-Trip Plan is 90 consecutive days per overseas trip.
- General exclusions include losses, injuries, damage or legal liabilities arising from: pre-existing medical conditions (excepting repatriation of mortal remains or funeral expenses), participation in extreme sports, sporting activities, expeditions, missionary work and humanitarian travel, and travelling against the advice of a medical practitioner.
