There was a sign-up bonus cashback when I applied which made it an attractive card. No annual fee. Points earned could be used to redeem for a variety of vouchers and rewards. Customer service is helpful

Speed of approval was so so slow I cannot emphasize enough. But once I got the card, everything was pretty smooth. Customer support is pretty good on the app. I use this card alongside with my Citi rewards card to get 4mpd on almost all spend. A drawback is that I cannot see the breakdown of points by each spend

Fee waivers are usually easy process. The benefit may not be best but like it like theres no min spend to clock points and many things you can redeem with your points.

Occasionally there is some good promo w retail and restaurants.. but earning rewards points is mediocre and slow.. applied the card without any perks hence feel quite short changed.. $1 earn 1 points with no means to accelerate the points redemption.. not many rewards category to choose too..

[Useful For...] It is useful for first timers as it is very easy to understand in terms of bill payment, etc. [Miles Card] I don't think you should apply for this if you want miles as there isn't much potential in it.

The HSBC revolution is a great rewards card that gives you either 4 mpd or 2.5% cashback on mobile contactless and online spend. However, the speed of approval was rather slow (2 weeks in my case). That said, it was quite easy to contact customer support in my case.

[Miles Card] Good to earn rewards but only cap at $1000 on eligible merchant spends such as food, travel company, groceries and contactless retail. $1000 spend gets 10x reward points, anything more it’s not worth to use… only gain $12k rewards a year… can only turn around flight Bangkok… a bit waste of time tbh.

      HSBC Revolution Card

[Awful CS experience & blindsided DCC charge] Friday, 6 January 2023 Sharing my extremely awful experience with HSBC and its Revolution credit card so that existing and potential new cardholders can beware. Checked my latest statement and was shocked to see that I was charged a S$5.25 DCC charge against my S$525 hotel booking. Very surprised to see this because: 1. Booking was made on a Singapore website 2. Booking was made in Singapore Dollars I've used this card to pay for foreign currency products in Singapore and overseas as well without incurring DCC before, and it's baffling to see a DCC charge on my transaction made on a Singapore website in Singapore Dollars. Called in to HSBC hotline on Thursday, 5 January 2023 and was attended by Ravin. It's an understatement to say that it was the worst bank customer service support I've received in the past 10 years of using multiple credit cards from various banks. The CS agent knew nothing about transactions and kept speaking over me and not letting me finish my sentences. I was also put on hold about 5 times over 30 minutes because he needed to check on policies and such. As I was describing my transaction process, he kept repeating "thank you for your feedback" in which I replied, "I'm looking for a solution, I'm not giving feedback." He then promptly answered, "there is no solution." I was dumbfounded by such off-putting attitude of the agent. I asked what can cardholders do to prevent such charges in the future because we're making transactions on Singapore websites in Singapore Dollars, it doesn't make sense for us to be blindsided like this. I was put on hold again. The answer I received later on was that we have to check with the merchant if they have an overseas bank account or if their transactions would be routed overseas during payment. This was absolutely ridiculous because if we were to reach out to every merchant before payment, how many working days must we wait to get an answer? It would be even more ridiculous when the website is already a Singapore website charging in Singapore Dollars, and we get blindsided with a DCC charge out of nowhere, just because "the merchant has routed their payment overseas." I then asked who was the party charging the DCC, in which I was put on hold (again for the umpteenth time) and he came back after 2 minutes with an answer of the DCC charge being shared by both HSBC the bank and Visa the card issuer. I requested for him to put in a note to escalate the matter and also for a callback for updates. However, he said that there would be no callbacks available and I would have to call in again to check on my own. Called in to HSBC hotline again on Friday, 6 January 2023 and was attended by Sasha. The CS agent was extremely patient and understanding, and took the effort to go through my transaction process again. Compared to Ravin, she was godsend. I checked again on who was the party charging the DCC and this time I got a different answer: "DCC was charged by the merchant, not us." and that I should check with the merchant if I wanted a waiver. I'm surprised that the answer on DCC was inconsistent -- this was provided to Sasha by her manager. Still, I must commend on her patience and professionalism throughout the call. All in all, it's been quite a frustrating experience dealing with HSBC given the inconsistent answers on DCC charges. S$5.25 obviously is a small amount in the grand scheme of things but what if we have bigger purchases in the thousands? That would cost us an upwards of S$10/20 or even up to S$50 per transaction we make. It's even more frustrating when we are not making transactions on a foreign website or overseas, but a Singapore website in Singapore Dollars. How can cardholders be assured that we won't be blindsided with DCC charges every time we use our HSBC credit card? This gives us zero level of confidence. As someone who has worked in a digital bank, we know how to avoid DCC charges properly when making transactions on credit cards. However, in this situation, there was absolutely zero chance to prevent DCC charges to our knowledge, and hence the blindsided DCC charge is a frustrating one. I hope HSBC can rectify this issue promptly and provide a satisfactory solution.

Hi! Did you manage to get back the DCC fee? 😭

I got charged $12+ for my ANA flight ticket (in Singapore website with SGD shown) which this doesn't happen when I used POSB card previously.

HSBC told me the same thing and it's really frustating - firstly they said it's ANA's side, but I told them that ANA's final transaction page mentions that they doesn't charge any extra fee including DCC fee, if any extra fees appear, it will be on the bank we use for the purchase. Then HSBC changed their words, told me charges are on them as it's the fee they need to pay overseas merchant. I confirm ANA process the transaction locally since I bought and even call their customer service before. They insisted they can't do anything, hinting me there's no solution for the DCC fee, they'll continue to charge whenever they think the merchant is overseas I guess. I was so angry and at last gave up asking...

I'm so sorry for the long longgg messages, would like to get your advices on how I should fight my points if you manage to get back the fee! 😭

HSBC Revolution card has grown in popularity with the downfall of GRAB reward. Amazing card but the approval timings as well as the time taken for customer support is one of the worser ones as compared to other banks.
