- 2 comprehensive plans for your vehicle: MotorMax, and MotorMax Plus
The differences between them are
(a) the amount covered in different areas, and
(b) MotorMax Plus has transport allowance, vehicle replacement, and loan protection benefits.
(c) MotorMax only allows repairs done at MSIG authorised workshops while MotorMax Plus gives you your choice of workshop. - Get medical expenses cover for policyholder, authorised driver and/or passenger (up to legal seating capacity) for both plans.
- MotorMaxPlus offers $100,000 worth of car loan benefits to cover any outstanding car loan if the policyholder meets his/her demise in a car accident.
- Both plans also cover you for emergency repatriation or evacuation in the event of a vehicle accident overseas (Malaysia and Thailand). This might be an attractive feature for drivers who frequently drive from Singapore to Malaysia and/or Thailand.

[Customer Service] Great customer service by far. Really efficient and helpful. They could even get you covered within that working day itself if you call and request for it. [Purchase Process] Rather smooth for me. Got covered for the past 2 years, 3rd year counting currently. No complains. [Insurance Coverage] They have a couple of plans that covers the essentials depending on your need.1

MSIG MotorMax Plus Plan
Just started with msig this year after comparing with a few other insurance companies based on price and claims coverage. Choose the motor max plus plan as it gives choice of workshop and any driver approved by insurance buyer. Price was only slightly higher than the basic plan so decide to go with it. Online application was smooth and got confirmation shortly after completing it online. Ably to pay in installment/ full. Called their hotline to enquire about the plan before applying for the plan and staff were helpful to answer questions.1

I have used MSIG's car insurance for 3 years. Can't comment on the claims process as I have not done any yet. I chose MSIG as it covers explicitly covers driving carpool services, which I do occasionally. The renewal process is quick. Their rates are comparable with the online motor insurance companies, with a trusted brand and big presence, so I will recommend to others to consider them.0

Types of MSIG Motor Insurance Plans at a Glance
MSIG offers auto insurance plans under 2 names: MotorMax and UMax. Together, they have a total of 4 plans to choose from:
1. MSIG MotorMax
The most basic coverage. Repairs at MSIG authorised workshops only.
Recommended for:
- Cars no longer under warranty
- Second hand cars
- Parallel import
2. MSIG MotorMax Plus
More extensive than MSIG MotorMax (eg. transport allowance, replacement car, loan protection). Repairs at any workshop.
Recommended for:
- New cars still under warranty
- Drivers who took out a car loan
For both plans, it is important to note that there is an additional Young and/or Inexperienced Driver Excess of $3,000.
This applies for any person (other than Policyholder) who is under 27 years old and/or has held a valid driving licence for 2 years or less.

- Protects your 50% No-claim Discount
- Maintain your NCD in the event you have to make a claim
MSIG may not have many add-ons available but that's because they already provide the usual add-ons from other providers in their plans like windscreen cover, and vehicle replacement for MotorMax Plus.
Young / Inexperienced Driver Excess
- An additional Young and/or Inexperienced Driver Excess applies for any person (other than Policyholder) who is under 27 years old and/or has held a valid driving licence for 2 years or less
- The Young and/or Inexperienced Driver Excess for MSIG MotorMax is S$3,000
