Budget Direct Car Insurance, as the name would imply, has some of, if not the lowest priced policies in the market. Additionally, their plans are extremely customizable with benefits typically included in base plans being add-ons instead, so you can get the benefits you need for the price you want.
While extremely affordable, Budget Direct may not be the best choice for families, younger / inexperienced drivers or high risk drivers as they may need more coverage.

i've signed up for budgetdirect for 2 years now. 1st year they gave me a flashpay card to use but the 2nd year they did not. however, they were the cheapest for me so i stuck with them. not sure about the claims as i have not done any. hopefully i wont need to.1

[Customer Service] This company seems to be run by robots because they have no compassion and are only good at throwing their contract clauses at you rather than answering my questions directly. Even as a new customer, they make no effort to retain me, so I cancel my plan even before it got started. With this kind of customer service, I cannot imagine what hell they will put you though when you make a claim. [Hidden Terms] Please beware when they ask you to "confirm your car is not used for hire and reward, commercial purposes and /or for delivery of goods or food and ride hailing platforms (e.g lalamove, Foodpanda, Deliveroo, Grab, Grabhitch, Go-Jek, TADA and others)" because they can come up with something to trap you into this clause. Even if you do not use your car for the purpose above but they found you have registered with any of such company, they can use it against you and refuse to cover you.0

Budget Direct is by no means the cheapest in the market for car insurance. Year-after-year (at least for the past 7 years), I have submitted prove that the quotes I got from competitors were at least 15% cheaper ($100 - $300 cheaper) while at the same time gave better coverage, lower excess, any driver, unnamed driver benefits, loss key, etc. Yet never once did Budget Direct honour their $100 challenge (if can find lower quotes), or promised compensation of reward or free insurance. Imagine they dont honour an advertised promise of $100 reward (or free insurance), Budget Direct will definitely not honour any insurance claims you make.0

[Insurance Coverage] My parents inquired to add an additional driver (me) under Budget Direct, end up they cancel the policy under the pretext of "the additional driver might secretly drive the car and get into accident, hence cannot cover". So in 6 days time, they will cancel my parents' policy and we can't even drive the car. Totally rubbish company. Think twice before you insure with them. Price is cheap but they will also treat you like a cheapo.0

[Claims Experience] 1. Difficult to make claims and always finding a reason not to honour claims. 2. Inspite of all the gimmicks, BD premiums were $200 more than India International Insurance.2
