What are some good maternity coverage plans that i should consider?

What should I be looking out for and is a coverage plan truly needed?

Hi Shulingg,

I actually got a AIA Mum2Baby for my wife as her maternity coverage plan from week 14, and what I did is then to pair up a wholelife policy for my son. This means that after baby is born, we can do a switch to cover the baby with a wholelife plan, and it's a limited pay plan as well. So you can probably read up more to evaluate your interest in this.

Hi Shulingg,

Tons. But what you'll need to look out for include

  • How many conditions covered?
  • Eligibility period to purchase?
  • Is it a standalone plan, or bundled with another plan that you need to purchase?
  • How many babies covered under a single pregnancy?
  • Is IVF covered?, etc

Depending on your requirements, you can then eliminate those that don't fit your needs.

Some plans on the market include:

  • AXA Mum's Advantage: Bundled with ILP WL
  • AIA Mum2Baby series: Bundled with WL (transfer of early CI cover can be done without underwriting) or with ILP
  • Aviva MyMaternityPlan: Bundled with term, savings, WL
  • Prudential PruFirstGift: Can be standalone, bundle with ILP, or bundled with WL (thanks Leslie for highlighting this)
  • NTUC Maternity 360: Standalone
  • GE Flexi Maternity: Standalone
