I have AXA Shield Plan A and AXA Basic Care Plan A and the premium for Basic Care has gone up by $200 in March of this year to $600+. I am 26y/o with no pre existing medical conditions. Is AXA still an affordable option?

Hey there!
It ultimately depends on your budget. It's often inevitable that the premiums of hospital plans increase due to medical inflation but you can consult for quotations from different insurers to see which fits your budget better.

Hi Alex,
It really depends on your budget and what coverage you are looking at.
As Yi Ning has replied, medical costs will only go up, due to various factors:
1) ageing population
2) overclaiming/overcharging
3) inflation
this is why MOF is very concerned about the long term viability of the shield plans, and has introduced measures to try to stem the increase in medical expenses of the population.
I hope this answers your question, but I would advise you to look for your trusted financial adviser to give you a more comprehensive advice.
