Whole life plans usually come with death/terminal permanent disability coverage. You will need the tpd coverage even as a single. While you have no dependents, you don't want to be a dependent when things happen. I'm ok to part with the death benefits if i die suddenly because i really don't need it anymore! Even term plans require you to purchase term life plan with death coverage before buying the CI rider. Contrary to what a lot of reviews say, term plan can be quite expensive if you buy it after your 40s. You also need to pay premiums for a longer period and it doesn't have any cash value.
Unless there're new plans out there that are cheaper, I may consider term life CI plans again. But for now I've decided to stick to whole life plan because there's a limit in premium payment and covers whole life.
