How long into a new job is it acceptable to take leave?

Just discovered some health issues that coincide with the time my new job is on the way what should I do? Might have to take hospitalisation leave so I'm worried it'll look bad on me.

Usually after probation. But if it’s legit reasons like health matters, I would speak to my boss and plan the HL to keep disruption to the minimal. It’s your right to take medical leave and delaying treatment for some conditions may result in more complications.
