Hi everyone, I plan to invest $3000 every month, please comment on my proposed plan, does it make sense?

I currently DCA $500 every month to StashAway (investing portfolio at 18% risk preference) and $500 to Syfe REITs+. I plan to close my StashAway account and move on to DIY with ETF. Here's my plan:

Iwda $750
Syfe $500
China $500
USA $1,000 (either IVV, VOO, CSPX, VUSA)
Europe $250

Does this portfolio make sense?

I'm 34 years old, no other family commitments besides hdb loan. Plan to semi-retire around 50 years old. Currently I have about $200K, plus $72K (SA+OA) in CPF.

Thank you!

Hello!

Your portfolio allocation looks pretty complete!

Additional questions to think through:

  • Any plans to lumpsum? I assume there's quite an amount in Stashaway already and you mention having $200k excluding CPF. How are you going to allocate that lumpsum? Bearing in mind that over a long-term, lump-sum investing performs better than DCA and you do have a reasonable runway of 16++ years.

  • What goes behind your portfolio allocation? I see that you have actively selected US China and Europe markets while still remaining global with IWDA? What is the rationale behind the weighting? Are you punting / betting on any market to outperform the other? If so, do ensure that you have good justification for it. Otherwise, it might be better to just track a global index passively.

  • Do consider also that as you approach retirement, the weighting of your portfolio may change to reflect decreasing tolerance for volatility. You don't wanna retire at 50 with a 100% equities portfolio and suffer a market crash right there and then.

All in all, I'm very happy when I see people who have made good plans for their future. Very well done. Good luck!
