It depends on where your ECI rider is accelerated or not! If it is accelerated, it will eat into your base sum assured. If it is an additional rider, you will be getting 100k first which does not eat into your base sum assured.

Hey there!
Yes, you are right. Assuming your rider is an accelerating rider (most riders by default are), your CI payout will be given to you and your plan will terminate, ie. you will not have any chance of claiming for death or TPD. But the assumption here is if your acceleration is a 100%, ie. 100% of your death benefit is accelerated to you as a CI payout.
One way to avoid this is if you tweak the 100% acceleration, ie. you change it to a 50% acceleration instead. That way, your death benefit wont be wiped out. Some insurers like AIA allows for that. You can also opt to get an Additional rider, ie. it pays out for CI without reducing your death benefit but do check if you have the budget for that since its usually more expensive.
If you're still worried about your death benefit being wiped out, the other option for you is to get a stand alone term plan and/or CI plan to provide for exclusive death benefit and/or CI coverage to top up what you already have. This will make much economic sense for many people.
