Buying property vs not becoming “house rich, cash poor”.

For a first condo purchase, how much cash buffer should remain after the down payment + BSD?

I think 6 months of expenses is enough if income is stable and the mortgage isn’t a stretch, no need to leave too much cash sitting around also.

I’d personally want at least 9-12 months of expenses left in cash after everything, maybe I’m more conservative but I rather buy slightly later than feel stressed every month.

Being "house rich and cash poor" is usually the result of a wrong funding strategy.
