Would you rather be asset-rich but cash-poor, or asset-poor but cash-rich?

Saw a ST article on asset-rich, cash-poor retirees
https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/asset-ri...

Wondering if one is any better than the other?

Asset-rich but only those assets which generate a cash-flow (divident stock portfolio) and/or assets that can be liquidated in a shorter period of time(Mutual funds, stocks, Fixed deposits, Money market funds etc..).

As long the asset can provide cashflow to me, doesnt matter if its a condo/hdb. If not its just a liability like a car unless its a fsd model. What you want is a liquid asset rich. Cash depends, if you are not making it work, better be spending it than letting its value go down.

Hi Anon! I would prefer to be asset-rich but cash-poor because assets appreciate in value over time ...
