Hi anon, while estate tax duties will not be applicable for investments made into Singapore assets, for US assets, estate tax duty may be applicable depending on the custodian structure and the country where it is custodised.

Our understanding currently is that Syfe customers who are non-US citizens may not be liable to US estate taxes, though we are still awaiting clarity from our custodian on this.

Hi there,

Thank you for this question!

If you invest as an individual, the estate tax regulation applies. For our clients, they are registered on our ledger as a beneficiary of Asia Wealth Platform (StashAway's legal entity), which is a corporate, as such they may be subject to this estate and gift tax. However, this is a gray area we are currently working with our lawyers to get clarity on.
