Bank of China Sheng Siong Card

Card application process was slow, done in early 2019. Unable to waive annual fee of $48.15 after one year. Fee waiver request put in but they do not even reply you when the request is unsuccessful. The annual fee will erode the extra Sheng Siong rebates that you have earned as compared to POSB everyday card.

Hi Anon, I believe that you are asking specifically about the BOC Sheng Siong Card. This card mainly caters for shopping at Sheng Siong, but here are some other savings and benefits you can get. - 5% cashback on Grab rides and all taxi rides in Singapore with minimum spend of S$400 in a billing cycle, capped at S$20 per billing cycle - 1% cashback on overseas spend with no minimum spend and no cap on cashback - First year annual fee waiver for principal and supplementary cards The main aim of this card is still to cater to shoppers at Sheng Siong and in fact it provides attractive cashback of up to 12%, with minimum out of store spend of S$400 within the same billing cycle. Hence, I believe that this card would only be useful for daily savings if you shop often at Sheng Siong. If you are looking to save more on your expenditure in other aspects, I suggest you look out for other credit cards that can benefit you in your areas of expenditure!

Hi Anon, Firstly, I'm gonna assume that you shop at Sheng Siong quite abit, hence you're considering applying for this card. Here are the perks of the BOC Sheng Siong Card: - 7% cash back on Sheng Siong spending with no minimum spending, capped at $70 a month. - Minimum spending requirement of $400 a month outside of Sheng Siong, to get an additional 5% cash back, capped at $20 a month. - $30 Annual Fee, waived for the first year - 5% rebate on Grab, Uber and taxi rides with $400 retail spending a month (capped at $20 per month) - 1% cash rebate on overseas spending, with no minimum spending requirement and no cap on cash rebates earned - Base cashback rate of 0.3% on all other purchases If you're a regular at Sheng Shiong, this is the card to go for to maximise your cashback returns! The possible 12% that you can get is definitely the most generous out there, especially since getting the extra 5% definitely isn't hard- with it requiring only a $400 minimum spend. The decent rates outside of Sheng Siong make it a pretty decent card overall, but I cannot stress enough how you really should only be considering this card if you regularly shop at Sheng Siong. If not, you may want to consider other cards that are more diversified in their cashback- i.e the Citi Cash Back Card, which boasts an 8% cashback for groceries (capped at $25). Hope this helps!
