Was quoted $1,500 bill to fix my MacBook Pro which suffered liquid damages. If I take it back without repair, I will have to pay $128 for diagnostic. What should I do?

My 2017 MacBook Pro suffered liquid damages (plain water). I’ve sent it to QCD Technology where they quoted me a 1.5k bill. If I were to take it back without repair I would have to pay $128 for the diagnostic fees. The 1.5k bill which includes the exchange of Logic board, top case with battery, left fan and eDP Flex Cable. Some suggested I bring it to a third party repair shop but my concern is my warranty from Apple Care of approximately 2 more years would be voided. Does anyone have any advice for me? I’ve previously spent a total of 2.7k buying this laptop including extra Apple Care.

Check if Apple Care is voided if you fix with them
Ask for quote from 2nd hand repair shop

With these 2 information, I think you can make a better choice on your next course of action.

Basically if the 3 party repair shop repairs it for more than 1k, I think it's safe to say that repairing it at Apple is better, because Apple Care even covers battery and charger. So if any of them spoil (non-liquid damage), and batteries are known to have problems after some time, then you can repair them for free.

If you go for the 3rd party option, then make sure you do your research on which ones are the most trustworthy ones!
