Yeah please be careful of phishing scams!

Especially with emails and SMS-es which can seem very real. I have one here which I got recently which looks like this: (image is from google)

Yes, phishing scams have been on the rise as seen in this article - https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/nearly-tenfold-jump-in-phishing-instances-last-year-csa-report

I have also received quite a number of phishing emails this year from Steam, PayPal and DBS (If I remember correctly) as well as a phone call from a local number but Chinese speaking person.

It is also getting more sophisticated as they are now resorting to caller ID spoofing where their caller ID will seem like it's from Singapore. E.g. 999 for phone calls and DBSBANK for SMS

A rule of thumb is if it seems too good to be true, then it probably is. Also, a few other things to check are the sender's email, typo or spelling errors, URLs and type of information asked as they won't ask for sensitive information over such channels. Do not click on such URLs!

    Stay safe all!
