Rather than putting in $100 to buy just 1 ETF, you can easily get more diversified by putting the $100 into a robo like Syfe Equity100.

Reason being:

  1. With such a small amount of capital, this is the most efficient way to deploy it since fees are almost negligible.

  2. Instantly diversifies for you

  3. Portfolios are constructed based on factors.

4.It is an easy way to start investing

5.It can outperform S&P 500 (at least for now)

I also did an article on it. Check it out if you are interested! Hope it helps :)

If you understand what does VOO entails and you have a long term time horizon, it would be good first exposure for sure.

Of course, in time, you will see if the glove fit aka whether your character would be suited to pick individual stocks instead for potential Alpha.

But ETFs like VOO is generally a very good start - and in fact, way of investing for life for the majority - as Warren Buffett say.โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹
