Is it worth it to upgrade from economy to business class using miles?

It would be more worthwhile to your miles to claim business class tickets straight, dollar for dollar.

The more mile-efficient option is to straight up redeem a business ticket using miles.

I'm not sure how true this could be across all airlines but I've a friend who often dresses up really nicely at airports. Despite being on economy class, the airline periodically upgrades her to business class without additional cost.

Not worth in 99% of scenarios. Sometimes they do a last min upgrade promos on miles and might send an email - based on how much you have paid for economy tickets.
