It depends on the investment objective. Personally I will choose at most 5 stocks to create a well-diversified portfolio that has the strength for dividend and growth.

I take it this amount is in sgd. For this, I'm more of a dividend person in the local market hence I'll look to buy into reits at a good entry point. Kinda difficult now as the spread between nav and prices is wide.
If in USD, I'll pump half into an options portfolio selling puts on good counters and leave half in the account as risk management practice.

Hi, it depends on the type of portfolio you are building.
If you are building for dividend, then you might want to buy into 2-3 stocks that give at least 5% dividend yield.
If you are looking to build a growth portfolio, I wouldnt suggest you to diversify too many stocks due to the amount of $10000. Personallyy, I would invest in about 2 stocks (with high conviction) using about half the money, allowing some space to average down
