I've noticed that AMEX has recently been pushing extra hard for sign-ups, by increasing the sign-up bonuses (no matter how slight). Any idea why?

Obviously they'll want to increase their user base, but anyone has any insight as to why now? Do you think there'll be any pushback from their competitors?

They are prob losing card members and it's good for consumers, such is the open market competition

others will be motivated to offer compelling promos too

I dont think their competitors will push back because their competitors still have better bonus accumulation points rate for spending on their cards

Could be their targets and matrix that push them to go for more new users...
