I've used YouTrip for 3 years — here's my honest review + referral link for new sign-ups

Been on YouTrip since 2023 and it's earned a permanent spot in my travel wallet alongside my miles card. Here's my honest take — and a working referral link if you're new.

What I genuinely like:

Zero FX fees — I can't overstate how much this adds up. On a S$3,000 Japan trip, I saved ~S$90–100 vs using my DBS card (which charges 2.8% cross-border fee).

In-app exchange — I lock in SGD→JPY when the rate looks good before a trip. Not always possible to time it perfectly, but when you can, it's a nice edge.

Instant freeze — Misplaced my card in Bangkok once. Froze it in under 10 seconds from the app. No panic calls to a bank hotline.

eSIM inside the app — New feature. Convenient for short trips when I don't want to swap SIMs.

What could be better:

⚠️ The wallet limit is S$5,000 — fine for most trips, but if you're on a longer sabbatical or spending heavily, you'll feel it.

⚠️ No credit card feature — it's purely prepaid, so no cashback on YouTrip spend itself (use a miles card for everything that doesn't have a FX fee, and YouTrip for everything overseas).
