Does it make sense for me to upgrade my Business Class ticket on SQ to a First-Class ticket with miles?

Which would be more worth it on SQ? Buying a business class ticket and then upgrading it to first class using miles; or just straight up redeeming a first-class ticket with miles.

Hey anon! I think it's more worth your miles to redeem a first-class ticket with miles. Purchasing business class and then upgrading to first-class would not be miles efficient!

Straight up redeeming with miles. Its not worth upgrading because you are paying 42-60% of the outright cost for First class when redeeming. Milelion has a clear write up on why it is never worth to redeem your miles for upgrade
