TLDR - How do you find a financial advisor that you can trust, or better yet, are there any to recommend?

I got my first advisor from an acquaintance friend's brother. Bought a Whole Life Limited Plan for it. It was arguably, the best decision I made based on my knowledge of investment.
However, it was not optimised enough for investment.
I, later on, talked to a few Tied advisors and didn't really feel that they add value. They are only telling me I have gaps and does not know much about the time value of money, what are the good investments etc. Buy Term Invest the Rest (BTIR) was quite new at that time. (10 years ago).
I had an interest and wanted to go into the industry, but because of family demands, opted for a stable job instead.
I became a tied advisor in 2017 (because someone sponsored my education to be a tied agent, did part-time and felt it was very Sales-Based instead. I rather do technical knowledge and impart knowledge, hence left too.
Now I set up my own business to cover the gap of 2nd Hand Insurance.

Insurance agents have no fiduciary obligations to service you.
You can check your policies contract. Nowhere does it say that agents must serve you or help you with claims.
It is really heng/suay to find a "good" agent.
