Depends on inidividual need. Some people need money, some people need power. Some people do not need money now, likely choosing a senior position provide exposure to more responsibilities to accumulate experiences. The monetary reward may come later.

High Pay but lower position is okay. haha..

Probably status quo as both have risks. higher pay usually get retrenched first, high seniority means more responsibility and work
