Why does my financial agent (ex-schoolmate) want to reconnect with me and be friends again? It is not as though we are close like before and has since moved on for more than a decade.

These folks believe in what they term "law of large numbers", essentially the more ppl they reach out, the higher the chances of someone buying something from them and therefore commisions in their favor. Similar to what others have mentioned, they only want your money

Because they want to secure a business with you, i get random dms from FAs wanting to connect with me too so u can just politely reject if u r not comfortable
