Mind sharing what are the serious repercussions that could happen from getting a flat with someone who is not my partner?

It can be okay if you work out the ground rules beforehand, and have it in writing. For example, what happens if one day you do meet the right one and want to settle down - what happens to the flat then, when you need your own place? Likewise, what happens if there's a dispute over, say, whether to sell the flat?

Have it all laid out before you committ to anything (and not just as verbal agreements).
