Which teleco company has the best 2 year mobile plan for a student?

Hi, I'm planning to sign a new Phone Line, but unsure which Teleco Company has the best 2 year mobile plan for a University Student who travels via public transport (underground coverage) and the best price.

Actually you dont get much savings out of the 2 yr contract right? most of the telco are very affordable now (and generally ok coverage).

Why do you need a 2-year plan? Do you purchase your phone with the telco plan?
