Which bank should I chose

I turned 16 recently and i am looking to open a bank account under my own name. I have heard of people using dbs or ocbc or even other banks. there are a lot of options and i'm unsure of which one i should chose.

i currently spend about $150-$200 per month on a card. (not my own account)

do anyone have recommendation?

You can apply for a debit card with any of the 3 main banks, and you can consider GXS since you meet its age requirement. Suggest DBS MyAccount since there are 0 balance fees in that account

HSBC Revolution? So you can change the points for movie tickets.

For 16 y/o

  • DBS My Account ($0 average bal needed) - DBS Multicurrency Visa Debit Card
  • UOB Uniplus ($500 average bal needed) - UOB One Debit Card
  • UOB Stash ($1000 average bal needed) - UOB One Debit Card
  • OCBC Frank Account ($0 average bal needed until 26 y/o) - Frank Debit Card
  • CIMB FastSaver ($1,000 initial, $0 average bal needed) - no debit card!
  • GXS Bank ($0 average bal needed, invitation required) - no debit card!

When you turn 18 y/o, you can consider this bank accounts:

  • StanChart JumpStart Savings Account ($0 average bal needed) - StanChart Cashback Debit Card (comes with 1% cashback for nearly every spend)
  • Trust Bank Savings Account - Trust Bank Debit Card
  • DBS Multiplier ($0 average bal needed until 29 y/o)
  • UOB One Account ($1,000 average initial needed & bal)
  • OCBC 360 Account ($1,000 initial, $3,000 average initial needed)

TBH, will recommend DBS My Account / OCBC Frank since you are 16 and it does not require minimum balance.

If you have some savings that you want to gain interest for, you can go for the CIMB FastSaver which earns 1.5% interest - but no debit card.

Once turn 18 y/o, can apply for StanChart JumpStart for daily use and savings.

Standchart has good perks but cs is terrible, take ages to respond when things go wrong and blame you for it.

Stanchart or Trust which comes with some nice deals 😊👍...
