Hi Anon,
Here is the response from the SeedlyTV BTO Special (45:10 to 47:12)
"I don't have a very clear answer for this, but if i were to apply what I understand is that, I think you in this case for anonymous right you'll be applying for two grants.
I think you are eligible for two grant, one it's the EHG like what I mentioned just now right, the Enhanced CPF Housing Grant but it's the singles option.
So for example if you earn like a 9k, you're in a 9k bracket right, so remember 9k both of us 9k right. They only get 5k. As a single you only get half, so that means you get 2.5k grant because you are the only one that's a Singapore citizen you have to apply under that the EHG singles.
So for your wife who's a long-time visitor's past right, technically she's a non-citizen, and there's this non-citizen spouse scheme which you can also apply for, but I cannot remember how much exactly the grant is, 20k I think.
But the issue is that your wife is currently not working, and the caveat or rather one of the eligibility criterias for that non-citizen spouse here is that both you and your spouse have to be working for the past 12 months.
I think HDB might be able to do this on a case-by-case basis, so I would recommend that you write in to HDB with your particular circumstance and then, explain to them and see what they can do for you."
Hope this helps!
