Me (27f) $2.7k/mth & fiancé (22m) $2.5k/mth - ns enlistment in early 2023. Getting married in mid 2024. Applied BTO 4R HDB for Nov 2022 Ghim Moh Natura. I have CPF whereas he has very low CPF OA ($500+). Advisable to proceed with the application if we were to get a queue number? Otherwise, is Resale a better option? We would like to buy a house and stay there long term (with no intention to resell). how much must we put aside?

Still young with weak financial foundation, don't rush into marriage. BTO timing will be about right.

Yur fiance has a 2.5k job. Haven't enlist into ns yet? Doesn't it mean that his salary will be replace into ns allowance for 2 yrs?

Anyway bto will give u 4-6 yrs to build up oa.

Another is the eh stereotypical saying. Bf gf. Bf go army. Break up eventually. Just for your consideration. I'm aware already engaged.

Another alternative I dunno if possible, yur salary + his ns allowance = 3 room bto application. 3r will be more affordable.

While waiting for bro, financially prudent to stay with parents so as not to stay apart.

Yes no intention to move out, but circumstances may change.

BTO in my opinion as the cheaper option, but good to build up your funds for uncertainities.

BTO is definitely the way to go as it is cheaper. However, if you're intending to go ghim moh, you need a larger sum outlay compared to the rest. Assuming its 640k, you have to set aside 64k for the 1st downpayment and 2nd 64k when you collect the keys. Since your fiancé does not have the means to pay for it initially, you will have to tank the 64k for the 1st payment. If unable to do so, you will have to fork out cash to cover the remaining sum. The 2nd 64k should be easier as both of you have time to accumulate your cpf till key collection date. 640k is excluding the stamp duty etc.

Few things to prepare/consider:

  1. Do check your cash surplus and CPF if it is enough to pay for d...
