First plan out the big tickets items you have to spend on for this year, example includes paying for a holiday trip, paying your income tax via cardup bill etc to earn more miles. With the planning of the expenditure than should you look for the best credit card combo.
The best mix and match is to utilise each credit card miles sign up promoiton. For example Krisflyer blue card has no first year annual credit card fee but allows you to earn up to 20,000+ miles for the first 6 months of expenditure. This is the first card you should tap on. Following which consider citi rewards visa credit card in the seventh to ninth month of your budgetted planninge expenditure see if it is able to fit into the citibank sign up welcome promotion for miles.
If you notice, I am always trying to ensure I hit the spending amount for each sign up miles welcome promtoion, hence i sign the credit cards one at a time before going to the next card that matches my expenditure and its sign up promotion spending.
In my view, this is the best combo to accumulate air miles - sign up for a credit card to enjoy the miles as a new customer then move on to the next card. Some cards to use are Amex Krisflyer card, citi rewards visa, DBS altitude

My favourite combo is:
OCBC Premier VOYAGE - for 1.6mpd on all eligibal spend that does not qualify for bonus spending on other cards, especially since I acquire VOYAGE points which do not expire, can be converted to miles FOC and can be used to redeem for any air ticket on any airline.
UOB PPV and VS - for the sheer earning power and versitality of 4 mpd on paywave and on overseas spend (for the VS card)
Citi Rewards - for 4mpd on online spend and clothes, shoes and bags with a reasonable range of airline transfer partners.
