Hi Anon,

Tiger's commission free trade works on a rebate system. Note that Tiger's min fee of 1.99 actually consists of 1 USD platform fee and 0.99 USD commission fee. Upon placing an order, you will pay the full commission + platform fee up front first.

After the order is processed, the commission fee will be rebated into your account as cash.

So it still costs you money to buy and sell because you pay the full fees first, but the net cost to buy/sell is only the platform fee because the commission fee is rebated back to you.

Hope this helps!

It means that you will be reembursed the $1 commission fee. You will still need to pay both the platform and commission fee when you buy/sell first.
