Uranium Investing

Currently hugely invested in Uranium equities (~50% of my portfolio). Wondering if. there are any like-minded individuals in this space that is currently vested in this sector as well. If so, do you mind sharing some of the companies that you're holding/interested in, as well as the rationale behind these picks?

It's been some time since I last provided any updates, but I've been taking some profits and re-entering the Uranium market as it tanked over the past 4 months. At some point in time, I had over 90% of my portfolio dedicated to Uranium, but decided to sell some of my uranium holdings to reduce my exposure (it's currently sitting around 60 - 70%). As of today, $CCJ, $URG, and $UUUU have provided me the best holdings, and I was "forced" to sell them to maintain a targeted weight.

Have a small monthly DCA into $URA as a simple strategy which I plan to continue for at least a few years. No picks but agree broadly with comments below about nuclear power. However, would say that commodities (of which uranium are classified under) will also go through boom/bust periods, so there may be a certain cyclicity to it (more in ref to energy industries too but similar point). All it takes btw is for another man-made disaster like fukushima to crash the reputation of nuclear energy (due to our availability heuristic). So the risk of ruin (aka black swan event crashing your portfolio) of such an investment strategy is higher than other energy plays, which would necessitate a certain level of risk management (hence small amount into DCA for me).

If anybody's interested in the broader energy sector, would recommend a comprehensive (but long) read on energy markets by Lyn.

Yes. I'm also bullish on Uranium since last year and currently using URNM as a vehicle to express my thesis. I'm not a good equity picker in this space. So I'm sticking to an etf. Wow...you have a very high conviction...my position is just 3%.
Nuclear energy is much safer than what we had in 1970s. Now we have small reactors and technology is far more superior. Nuclear energy is one of the under invested area for a long time. It's one of the easiest ways to meet higher energy demand in a cleaner way. Yet, Nuclear waste is an issue. But it's miniscule compare to hydro carbon pollution. With supply shortages, it captured more attention in this year and it complements current inflation thesis as well. Even if there is a commodity slow down(some expect) in the second half of the year, clean energy secular trend gives me more conviction to hold the trade for few more years. It also pays 5% dividend, so no carry cost. Since I like to trade around the postion. I will take some profits near term and add back during corrections.

UEC is on my watchlist. Its price has gone up recently...

Will the supply run out over time , leading to shortage ? is it renewable and what's the role of ura...
