Trust Freedom Card vs Trust Link Card (2026) — Which One to Apply For, Plus Referral Code 2GG9T8K3

Saw a few posts asking "which Trust card should I get" so I figured I'd do a proper side-by-side, since Trust rebranded the old Cashback Card into the Freedom Card back in August and the reward structure changed quite a bit. Whichever card you land on, sign up under referral code 2GG9T8K3 so you don't miss the current sure-win gift — details on that at the end.

Trust Freedom Card — this is the one for most people. Zero annual fee, zero FX fee, and every quarter you pick ONE of three reward modes:

  1. 3% Stockback (local + foreign spend, capped S$500/quarter) — Trust auto-buys fractional US stocks/ETFs from a curated list once your stockback hits S$10. This drops to 2% local / 0.5% foreign from 1 Jan 2027, so it's most attractive right now.
  2. Unlimited 1.5% local / 0.5% foreign cashback — the "set and forget" option, no caps to track.
  3. Up to 15% bonus cashback in a category you choose, plus 1% base — good if you have one dominant spending category (dining, groceries, etc.) but needs more active management.

Income requirement is S$30,000/year for citizens & PRs (S$60,000 for foreigners), S$15,000/year if you're 56 or older. Interest rate on unpaid balances is now personalised, 18.9%–29.9% p.a. depending on your profile — pay in full monthly and this never applies to you anyway.

Trust Link / NTUC Link Credit Card — same zero annual fee, zero FX fee foundation, but instead of Stockback/cashback modes it earns Linkpoints, with up to 21% savings at FairPrice Group merchants (FairPrice, Unity, Kopitiam, Cheers) and Caltex. If you're an NTUC Union member and/or your grocery spend is genuinely concentrated at FairPrice, this beats the Freedom Card's category cashback in practice.

My honest take: Freedom Card wins for most people because the rewards are larger and more flexible across general spending. Link Card only wins if you're specifically an NTUC member whose spend clusters at FairPrice/Caltex — otherwise you're leaving value on the table versus Freedom's cashback or Stockback modes. Neither card charges foreign transaction fees, which is genuinely rare in Singapore (most banks charge 3%+), though if you travel a lot a multi-currency card still edges Trust out on FX specifically — Trust caps free overseas ATM withdrawals but doesn't give you wholesale FX rates the way a travel-focused card does.

Both cards currently qualify for the sure-win scratch card promo if you're new to Trust and enter referral code 2GG9T8K3 during signup — the credit card tier is guaranteed S$50 to S$8,000 cashback, no minimum spend required, on top of whichever card's regular rewards you pick. Same as with the card choice itself, the code has to go in at the very first app screen, not after your application is already in.

I put together a fuller comparison plus the exact signup flow for entering 2GG9T8K3 here: https://dlcuration.com/trust-bank-referral-code...

(Disclosure: referral link — I earn a small reward if you sign up through it, separate from your own welcome gift.)

Curious what others are running Stockback vs straight cashback on their Freedom card — feels like Stockback only makes sense if you're already planning to hold the stock long-term rather than treat it like cash.
