I've had the DBS Live Fresh card for about a year now. My monthly expenditure on the card is about 1k including my insurance payment. I use the card for everything including ez-link.
In a month i'll be going for Lasik which is about 4k, so i'd have to spend 2k across the starting 3 months to get the 38k miles.
But is it worth getting another CC just for the miles? I do like travelling which is why i'm considering it.

Hi Janice,
The key thing to note is whether you would want to experience travelling in a premium cabin once in a while or not. For a miles card, you looking at 'buying' into experiences that you are normally not going to fork out money for, (no one typically pays for business class) and probably for a special occasion (honeymoon, or something). If not, you'll be better off sticking to cashback.
I find that cashback, while simple to understand, is just that. A rebate of some form.
Miles actually presents a kind of game that's easy to pick up but difficult to master. Cashback, you spend, you get cash back. Done. Sometimes, you don't get a lot due to the lack of your minimum spend. Sometimes you get a lot, but then you get capped.
Miles, you spend, you get your miles. No matter how much you spend, a little or a lot. Not only that, you are effectively not capped on how many miles you can earn. If you want to play the game simply, just spend normally and you'll eventually 'farm' enough miles to get a nice business class redemption.
If you want to kick the notch up a little, spend time learning and maximizing the rules of the game, and your redemption comes a lot sooner than you think. So ask yourself, do I want to enjoy the complexity of the miles game and the satisfaction of maximizing my spend to get a luxurious business class redemption? Or am I content with a very straightforward and simple cash back ecosystem? That should guide you into deciding whether to get the Altitude card as a start.
