There are many pros to the switch, for e.g. i can claim for relapse and the annual premium is lower too. But i am also concerned about the recent change in CI definitions. Would like to hear some feedback on this.

Hi anon,
Pruactive (Life) is a whole of life CI plan.
Prutriple (Protect) is a multipay plan.
They are not the same type of plan and an apple to apple comparison is not possible.
If you switch:
You will be on newer CI definitions
You will only pay premiums for a limited number of years and be covered for life
Premiums may be higher for a whole life in view that you compress the premiums into a limited number of years
You won't be able to make multiple claims
If you stay:
Your coverage is till the end of the policy
You pay till the end of the policy unless there is a claim
Annual premiums may be lower, but total premiums could be higher
You will be on the old CI definitions
Do note that the list of pros and cons is non-exhaustive and this is merely something for you to think about (abeit these are probably the key concerns).
I would suggest that you weigh the options carefully first and look at the coverage in terms of:
If I am diagnosed with a major CI
What would the payout be with PruTriple vs PruActive now or during my working life?
What about the payout in my retirement years?
If I am diagnosed with a early/intermediate CI
What would the payout be with PruTriple vs PruActive now or during my working life?
What about the payout in my retirement years?
Again, there are probably other factors and scenarios to consider but this is something to start you off.
You can consider speaking to another advisor for a second opinion if you need to.
Good luck!

Hi Anon as an agent myself, Pru Active Protect offers a larger number of critical illnesses coverage as it is a pure CI term plan as compared to Pru Triple which I like to call a 3 ended spear. I personally wouldn't be worried about the CI definitions changes as the main noteworthy change is the widening in scope of critical illness types.
