Hi anon,
ā
I'm personally with Aviva as previous claim statistics do show that if severe disability occurs, it is quite likely going to be from a situation of 3,4,5 or all 6 ADLs being impaired.
ā
Having said that, there is still a chance that you may end up in a situation whereby disability is not that severe and you might be diagnosed with 1 or 2 ADLs being impaired. In this case, GE's supplement might serve you better.
ā
So you have to ask which type of coverage would give you peace of mind, being covered for 3 or more ADLs, or being covered for 1 or more ADLs. Note that Aviva's 3 ADL supplement is going to pay you at 50% rate for 2 ADL if you are recovering from a 3 ADL situation.
ā
Naturally, a plan covering 1 or 2 ADLs would cost more than a plan only covering 3 or more ADLs. So you'll have to look at the numbers as well, and compare them to the chance of getting 1 or 2 ADLs. Personally for me, I chose 3 ADL also because if careshield itself pays me, then there will be no reason for the insurer to dispute my claim on my supplement plan.
ā
I presume you are able to get in touch with advisors representing Aviva or GE. If you don't have a GE contact, you can contact me, as I know someone from GE whom I work with when clients are looking for something specifically from GE.

You could read the differences between the plans providered by the 3 providers that are approved by CPF to offer this here: https://plannerbee.co/best-careshield-life-supp... From what we noticed so far, GE provides better benefits for early disability, and Aviva provides better benefits for severe disability for similar premiums.
